Vin Diesel Surprises at Billboard Latin Music Awards, Joins Nicky Jam for a Dazzling Performance
Vin Diesel proved once again that he is not just an actor and producer but also a talented singer. The star of “The Fate of the Furious” made a surprise cameo at the Billboard Latin Music Awards held at the Watsco Center in Miami, Florida. He joined forces with Nicky Jam on stage, adding his rapping skills to their rendition of “El Ganador.”
As Nicky sang in Spanish, “Now I’m making movies with Vin Diesel,” Diesel emerged on stage to a roaring applause from the audience. He donned a sleeveless gray shirt, white jeans, beige work boots, and sunglasses, captivating the crowd with his charismatic presence. Fiery special effects enhanced the performance, adding to the electrifying atmosphere.
This collaboration was not their first encounter, as Nicky Jam had previously appeared in Diesel’s recent film, “xXx: Return of Xander Cage.” In an interview with Billboard last year, Nicky hinted at their surprise performance, recounting how he proposed the idea of doing a song together. Diesel initially expressed shyness, but Nicky convinced him, saying, “I’m no actor, but I’m acting in front of you. I wasn’t scared.” Nicky praised Diesel’s enthusiasm for the Latino community, despite not being of Latino heritage himself. He even mentioned Diesel’s desire to speak Spanish.
In January, during an interview with E!, Nicky Jam revealed that they had begun recording a song together. He expressed how Diesel’s love for Spanish music inspired their collaboration. The songwriting process had already begun, and Nicky described the initial hook as simple yet promising.
Vin Diesel continues to soar professionally, with “The Fate of the Furious” inching closer to $1 billion in international ticket sales. The film has already amassed $163.3 million domestically in its second week at the box office.
