Hollywood Reporter confirmed Will Smith will play the sequel to I Am Legend – a horror , science fiction work about the post-apocalyptic world that was well received in 2007. Accompanying Smith in the film are Michael B. Jordan.

According to Deadline , Warner Bros. announced plans to deploy I Am Legend 2 since 2012, but until now, the production process has only been put into operation.

In addition to acting, Smith and the sexiest man of 2020 are also producing through his own company, with Smith at Westbrook Studios and B. Jordan as Outlier Society. Akiva Goldsman – the producer of the first title – will return through Weed Road Pictures. Besides, Goldsman is also responsible for the script.

Adapted from Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same name, I Am Legend follows the dangerous life of scientist Robert Neville (played by Will Smith) as he must find a way to survive in a post-apocalyptic world – where Humans are attacked by strange diseases, turning into zombies. Every day, Neville only knows how to be friends with his pet dog and mannequins.

Collider rated Robert Neville as one of the unique roles of the 54-year-old star. All emotions of despair, resilience, endurance, and hope mingled on Smith’s face. The blockbuster directed by Francis Lawrence had the highest opening weekend, grossing 

I Am Legend ends with the death of Robert Neville, and therefore, the audience feels curious, not knowing how the character can return in the new movie.

In fact, I Am Legend is not a movie about the war between Robert Neville and the zombies, but rather, it is a fight against the loneliness of a person left on Earth.

Smith has excelled in describing the feeling of a person living alone without human contact for three years, longing to one day meet people in the flesh.
