However, the 47-year-old actor seemed a bit puzzled as he couldn’t recall the name of the person who extended the invitation. He's back: Jason Statham revealed on Tuesday that he will be returning for the eighth part of the mega successful franchise when it continues in 2017

Jason Statham made an exciting announcement on Tuesday, confirming his return to the hugely successful franchise for its eighth installment in 2017. The actor shared the news with Access Hollywood, expressing his enthusiasm about being invited to join the franchise in the previous movie and now getting the opportunity to continue with another one. When asked about what might happen in the upcoming film, Statham playfully teased that he had some ideas but preferred not to share them on camera. He also gave credit to the franchise’s writer, correctly mentioning the first initial of Gary Scott Thompson’s name.

'Our good friend': But when the 47-year-old was asked about plot details, he said only the writer Glen knew that... even though the writer's name is Gary

‘Our dear companion’: However, when questioned about specific details of the storyline, the 47-year-old simply mentioned that only the writer Glen was privy to that information… even though the writer’s actual name is Gary. In the recent blockbuster, which amassed a staggering $1.5 billion in revenue, making it the fourth highest-grossing film ever, Statham’s character found himself confined within a highly secure penitentiary. Should he reprise his role as the antagonist in the forthcoming installment, it would mark the third consecutive film in which the Shaw family assumes the role of the primary adversary, following his little brother Owen’s portrayal as the antagonist in the sixth part. However, another possible narrative development could see him aligning himself with Vin ‘Dom’ Diesel’s group, a crew predominantly composed of reformed criminals featured in past films.
